Living A Short Life Making Merit Better Than A Long One Without Any

My grandmother ordained as a Buddhist nun when she was 62 years old at the Wat Paknam Bhasicharoen Temple. She helped out in the kitchen until she died at the age of 72 due to bone cancer. What did my mother do which causes her to love merit accumulation so much and had the chance to make merit with Luang Pu when he was still alive?
